Canton Tower
Guangzhou, 2011
IBA
Where most historical skyscrapers bear male characteristics; being angular, simplistic, heavy and based on repetition, Canton Tower is defined to have the identity of a female; smooth, curved, slender, gracious and incorporating diversity of spaces and floor-plan sizes.

The tower intends to be simple and complex at the same time, and attempts to offer Guangzhou city a new form that would be in tune with contemporary times whilst challenging current building technologies.
Notes
Overlooking Zhujiang new town, the last photo shows the view from the tower's observation deck.
