Woo’s Apartment
Shanghai, 2020
Woo Wu
As the city with the third most Art Deco architecture, Shanghai's Art Deco buildings are second only to New York and Miami. In this apartment, built in 1934, owner Woo Wu has infused his aesthetic and understanding of Art Deco little by little.

From researching and tracing its roots to gradually finding individual pieces, his tranquil home and obsession with French Art Deco has slowly taken shape. "French Art Deco is not known for exaggeration. Its charm is not only in appearance, but also the extreme pursuits of materials and craftsmanship," says Woo.

The neutral palette combines different designs from the period, including works by Jean-Michel Frank, Francis Jourdain, Alexandre Noll and Richard Peduzzi.
